These days, life is fast. You may have noticed that we often drink our morning coffee, and then the next thing we know we are tired and ready to crawl into bed.
We can lose out on important moments with our children and spouse if we don’t take the time to be intentional.
Two things have helped us be more present at dinner with our children:
- A mealtime no technology rule.
- To get things started, here’s a handy set of conversation starters .
Today, we will show you how to enforce the no-technology rule using our “Parked Phone Station. We also share a large list of our favorite family conversation starters.
The no phones rule is first.
On the counter near our kitchen table, we have created a parked phone station. It contains charging cables for different devices, and a little bag to store all phones and devices. We all stop at the station when we eat.
It will relieve anxiety when your phone rings and you are unable to answer.
Family time is made easier when you have a lot of time to spend with your loved ones.
Children can sense when their parents are distracted from their phones. They must have our full attention and eye contact. It’s easy for children to become addicted to technology. We can encourage them to engage with others instead of their phones.
Sometimes, it can feel strange to remove technology. This is especially true for older children who don’t talk as much.
Conversation starters are a great way to get people talking. This is a question that can’t be answered with a simple yes or no. It’s a question that requires explanation and might help us to learn more about each other.
