I Just Signed Up My Children for Camp Invention. Here’s How

*This post was sponsored by Camp Invention (r), , my opinions are all mine.

Like many parents, there are many concerns I have . One of my biggest concerns is whether my children will go back to school and what that could mean academically.

I worry about the learning they are missing because their schools are closed. We talk every summer about preventing the “summer slide”. Is there a bigger Coronavirus slide this summer?

Yesterday, I also discussed how strange it is not to have something to look forward to. There are no school, sporting events, family vacations, just the same thing that we have been seeing for many weeks. If that feeling is affecting you, it will affecting your kids.

That is why I wanted to share something I did to address those concerns. I teamed up with again, our favorite summer camp, Camp Invention (r), and signed up my 5th, 3rd, and Kindergartener sons.

Psst! Use promo code WEALLCANSTEM25 until March 31st to get $25 off your Camp Invention registration. You will also be eligible to win a Camp Invention visit and a personal letter from a female inventor.

This will be our third year attending this camp. As I have written before, it is the only camp that I am willing to drive over an hour each day to allow my children to attend.

We love Camp Invention for many reasons, but the most important is their commitment towards closing the gender gap on innovation. This is a very important message that my daughter and I want to be able to witness in real life.

Diverse perspectives are necessary to solve the world’s most pressing problems. However, STEM fields are still underrepresented in women and girls. Although boys and girls have similar interests in STEM subjects in elementary school, a UNESCO study showed that only 30% of female students choose STEM-related fields in higher learning. A 2017 study also found that 42% of girls surveyed thought STEM careers would be of interest to them by the age of 15.

STEM-based camps like Camp Invention are a great way to introduce children to innovators and careers that they can relate to, stated Jayme Cellitioci of the National Inventors Hall Of Fame (r).(NIHF), creativity and innovation strategist.

Camp Invention helps children of all sexes understand the value of other ideasas much as their own. It connects children to NIHF Inductees, diverse role models who show that there are no limits to who can and should participate in STEM.

This is the purpose of a new initiative by the NIHF, in conjunction with Women’s History Month: Camp Invention. It helps children of all genders understand the value of other ideas as much as their own. It connects them with NIHF Inductees who are diverse role models who show that there are no limits to who can and should participate in STEM.

Camp Invention offers children a unique opportunity to discover the importance of intellectual properties while creating, designing, and exploring. Camp encourages STEM learning, builds leadership, perseverance and problem-solving skills, and promotes entrepreneurship in an engaging and exciting environment.

The appeal of this camp for my children has blown me away the past two summers.

My daughter is more traditional than an artist-lover, but she was thrilled to hear she was going back. My son was just 5 years old, so I was worried about whether it would be too young to start. He loved it and could not wait to return each morning.

Their secret sauce lies in their ability to connect and engage with children of all ages, genders and interests. My daughter might not be particularly into robotics but she loves caring for animals so the build-your-own-robot-pet module was right up her ally.

I am so excited to sign up my children again, both for something to look forward too and to make sure they get the STEM education that they need this summer.

You can still grab your spot by using the code WEALLCANSTEM25 from now until March 31st!
